Holiday Roundup

Hooray for the long weekend! I am so excited to do nothing after 4 arduous days of work in the past 3 months. Phew! Dr. Boy is still confused by holidays. People don't work, and they go places. they have fun, like, all the time. Mind blowing.

He is, of course, working and watching baseball. Not just the Sox. ANYONE. But, at least he gets that we are going to par-tay this weekend. We had dinner in a restaurant, not on the couch, and tonight we might go out to meet his cousins for dinner/drinks. W-O-W.

I'm getting excited about Halloween (save the date ~ 10.27.07) now that I have a paycheck and the day off. I'm going to get started on the invitations this weekend, and I went bananas at The Ink Pad, learning gold leaf technique and ordering special stamps. I also went to Champion Stamp to buy cool stamps, ah hellz no. Like a couple of extra dollars per invitation in stamps. NO WAY. Y'all are getting some run of the mill sumptin' from USPS because no one notices this stuff but me.

The quest for a costume has not gone well. I want to say that while I do believe that single girls should always try to look cute costume, nay hot, hot does not mean slutty. When Playboy brand costumes start to look demure, it's bad. I don't want to look like a porn star, unless I'm dressing up like one. And, trust me, I will NEVER dress up as a porn star. So, my first and second costume ideas are out because I haven't taken off my Couple Happiness weight... Ugh, ugh, ugh. Need to get creative.

Scared kitty has done 2 things recently. First, he's discovered that he is big and ferocious, just like I've been telling him all along. Which is making him a bit of a bully to the other cats. Hmmm, not so good. Second, he has lost all of the weight like his vets have always wanted. He is sleek, and slender, with a waist. don't get me wrong, he's still HUGE, but now he's fit. You can't always tell when you look at him, but when you pet him the difference is striking. And, he can groom himself for the first time ever (don't ask) and so he's gur-juss. So, in honor of his incredibly good looks and new bravery, I have decided to start referring to my formerly fat cat as Phat cat. And, yes, I know that no one cares but me.

The new job is going well. Starting to get to know everyone. My boss has to be on a diet to lower his triglycerides, which is being actively enforced by his wife, who works in another building, and all of the wives who work in my building. Low fat, low carb - even fruit is over the line. He is miserable, but gets that this is important and is trying to be a sport. It reminds me of my last Prep School Boss and what a sneak he was about avoiding his diet. LOL! "Birthday cake" anyone? I am hoping that the enforced healthiness and all the FREAKIN' WALKING I have to do for this job will help me lose some weight. Good job, taking a job at a school on a hill that covers 30 acres, Lazy Girl. I'm tired just thinking about it.

The entire faculty lives within 10 blocks of me. Ok, not all, but 40%+. Seriously. And, the ones that live around me are the young ones I would be friends with. I thought before I started this job that I wouldn't invite anyone from work to Halloween (save the date ~ 10.27.07), but now I see there are a few I'd like to have over. But I'm not telling them about the blog, so I can still talk to all of you :)

Thus far, have remembered to lock the car every time, gotten to work before 8 a.m. everyday, and have not fallen asleep at my desk from the sheer exhaustion of subsisting on less than 5 hours of sleep (Hello! Insomnia! It's like high school all over again). Found Target, found a new BBQ place to go to, going to Costco this weekend. I think we can count that as a "win."

XOXO,

M
