Was good. I got to eat lunch with friends, and I didn't get lost. No recess, but overall a positive experience. I am a little overwhelmed by how happy, genuine and nice everyone seems. Not to worry, there are some snarky people for me to hang out with, but overall, there is no edge underlying the usual 'welcome to the team' speeches. So completely different for me. No one pulled me aside to let me in on what was really going on. And, even when there were little snafus, everyone remained fairly positive. I was, obviously, confused and disoriented. But, pleasantly so.
I think it's the location. It. Is. Beautiful. You can't hear or smell the city, and you have to look really hard to find anything over 10 feet high that's not a tree. I got out of the car to the sound of cicadas. And, my office has a door, and a great view of this beautiful lawn. Hurrah! My only complaint is that after a summer of flip-flops, my poor feet are NOT HAPPY about being in real shoes. Blisters and sore spots abound.
Still getting my bearings, and believe or not, I have homework! Off to read...
